Entre Nous Femmes Housing Society is proud to celebrate CEO Lilian Chau, whose leadership in affordable housing has been recognized by YWCA BC.
Entre Nous Femmes Housing Society is proud to share that Lilian Chau, CEO of ENFHS, has received the YWCA Women of Distinction Award in the Non-Profit category.
Presented at the 2026 YWCA BC Women of Distinction Awards Gala, the award recognizes Lilian’s leadership, vision and commitment to advancing safe, affordable housing for women, single-parent families, seniors, people with disabilities, Indigenous communities and equity-deserving groups across Metro Vancouver.
For ENFHS, this recognition is especially meaningful.
More than 40 years ago, ENFHS was founded by three single mothers, April English, Leslie Stern and Mia Cross, who all wanted to create more affordable housing for families like theirs. With a $1,000 grant from YWCA and a fierce commitment to women supporting women, they built the foundation for what has become one of Canada’s first women-led community housing organizations.
Today, ENFHS continues that founding mission by creating affordable, safe and secure homes where people can build stability, connection and a sense of belonging.
Under Lilian’s leadership, ENFHS is growing from a housing operator into a non-profit housing developer, strengthening its ability to meet the needs of low- and moderate-income households and expand housing options across Metro Vancouver.
“This recognition is deeply meaningful because it reflects the work of so many people who believe housing is about more than buildings, it is about stability, belonging and the opportunity to thrive,” said Lilian Chau, CEO. “ENFHS began with women creating solutions for their own communities, and today we are carrying that legacy forward by building more safe, affordable homes for the people who need them most.”
ENFHS congratulates Lilian on this well-deserved recognition and celebrates all nominees and recipients recognized at this year’s YWCA Women of Distinction Awards. Together, they reflect the power of women’s leadership in building stronger, more equitable communities.
We are grateful to YWCA BC for continuing to shine a light on women leaders whose vision, care and commitment are creating lasting change across British Columbia.
