At Entre Nous Femmes Housing Society, we continue the legacy of creating gender equality in housing by building much-needed affordable homes for single-mother households and families.
In a tight housing market with limited affordability, single mothers often face discrimination by landlords and have little access to affordable housing. Single mothers on average make less than half the income of a couple with children, and a third less than single fathers in the region. To provide housing for their families, over fifty percent of women-led households spend more than thirty percent of their income on housing. As the result of the lack of access to affordable housing choices, women must choose between buying food, warm clothes, medicine, education, or paying their rent.
It doesn’t have to be that way. Creating equitable access to safe, healthy and affordable housing is a priority for Entre Nous Femmes. We are committed to growing the number of homes for women-led households, seniors and people with disabilities in our communities. Together, we will create a future where everyone has a home in a world that is diverse, equitable, and inclusive. Thank you to all women and their supporters who are working to build a gender-equal world. Collectively we can all #BreaktheBias
